Community health program

Community Health Program of Teaching Hospital Peradeniya is launched with the intension of extending the hospital services to the surrounding community and to promote the concept of the family physician. People are privilege to have access to 24 hour OPD service (routine OPD service time 8 am to 8 pm), 24 x 7 surgical casualty care (currently casualty admissions done only on Sundays), mass screening for Non Communicable diseases and health promotion programs.

The project was launched under the guidance of Director Teaching Hospital Peradeniya, Dr. (Mrs.) C. Gunathilaka, in March 2013 to provide a better and easily accessible health care to people around the hospital. There are 3 Gramaniladari division (GN division) surrounding the hospital namely Palle Peradeniya, Uda Bowala and Gatambe.

In the first phase group of villagers from the Gatambe GN division was enrolled for the project.
