Obstetrics is a Branch of Medicine that involves in care of women during pregnancy and childbirth. Gynaecology studies the diseases of women, mainly the reproductive organs.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology units of Teaching Hospital Peradeniya provides outstanding Women’s and Maternal Care in Sri Lanka. In collaboration with Neonatology Unit of the Hospital, we provide high quality maternal and neonatal care for each pregnancy.
Our team comprises 06 leading Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, group of dedicated Medical Officers, postgraduate trainees of PGIM Sri Lanka, kind hearted nursing officers and other supportive staff.
Being one of the famous teaching and training center of the country we accommodate both postgraduate and undergraduate trainees from all over the world.
Obstetrics and Gynaecology service of TH Peradeniya has two units, the Professorial Unit (ward 3, 10 & 11) of Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya and Obstetrics & Gynaecology Unit 2 (ward 18 & 19), led by a Consultant appointed by the Ministry of Health.
